Family things to do and see in 10 days in London

London. The land of eye-watering prices, endless queues, and kids who suddenly “don’t need the toilet” until you’re 20 minutes into a line. But, and hear me out - it’s also home to some of the best family days out in the UK. Here are the ones genuinely worth your time, money, and sanity.

London is brilliant with kids.
It’s also loud, expensive, and absolutely relentless if you don’t plan it properly.

You can burn £200 before lunch…
Or you can have an unbelievable day for free and still feel smug about it.

These are the places that actually deliver. No filler. No “educational but boring”. No attractions where you leave thinking well… that was a mistake.

1. Natural History Museum

Free. Massive. Dinosaurs.

If that doesn’t sell it, nothing will.

It’s the kind of place where kids run around asking 400 questions a minute while you confidently nod, pretending you definitely remember what a trilobite is. The blue whale alone is worth the visit.

2. Science Museum

Buttons. Levers. Explosions.
Basically everything your house can’t survive.

Wonderlab costs extra, but honestly? It’s better value than half the toys your kids begged for last Christmas and forgot about by Boxing Day.

Pleasure rating: 8
Average rating: 9

3. London Zoo

A full day out with animals your children will instantly decide are their favourite ever.
Until they see the next one.
And the next one.

The penguins are VIPs, obviously.

Pounds rating: 7
Pleasure rating: 8
Average rating: 7.5

4. Tower of London

History. Drama. Ravens bigger than your toddler.

Kids love the gruesome stories. You’ll love the fact they might actually remember something from school for once.

Pounds rating: 7
Pleasure rating: 7
Average rating: 7

5. Shrek’s Adventure!

Utter chaos. In a good way.

Actors dragging you through scenes, lots of shouting, lots of laughing, and your kids will talk about Donkey for a solid week afterwards.

Pounds rating: 4
Pleasure rating: 4
Average rating: 4

(Pricey. But memorable.)

6. London Eye

Slow. Calm. Suspiciously peaceful.

You get 30 minutes where your kids are amazed into silence.
That alone is worth the ticket.

Pounds rating: 2
Pleasure rating: 6
Average rating: 4

7. The London Dungeon (for the brave)

Do not, I repeat, do not take sensitive kids here unless you’re prepared for a week of sleeping on their bedroom floor.

Older kids though? Absolutely obsessed.

Pounds rating: 6
Pleasure rating: 8
Average rating: 7

8. KidZania

A full mini city where your kids “work” different jobs while you sit on a bench wondering how to get this level of enthusiasm at home.

Spoiler: you can’t.

Pounds rating: 7
Pleasure rating: 9
Average rating: 8

9. Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens

A proper breather.

Playgrounds, sandpits, ice creams, ducks doing duck things. Simple. Reliable. Exactly what you need between big days.

Pounds rating: 9
Pleasure rating: 7
Average rating: 8

10. Greenwich & the Cutty Sark

A big old ship kids can climb, explore, and poke around in.

Bonus points: the riverboat trip to Greenwich is half the fun and feels like an attraction in itself.

Pounds rating: 6
Pleasure rating: 8
Average rating: 7
