Bodrhyddan Hall on a normal day is a pleasant wander.
But when the events are on - that’s when it really comes alive.
Throughout the year they host all sorts of things: vintage fairs, classic car shows, craft markets, food events, seasonal celebrations and family activity days. The whole place suddenly feels much busier and more energetic.
You’ll get stalls, live demonstrations, music, food vans and loads of people wandering around the gardens. It feels more like a countryside festival than a traditional stately home visit.
The setting helps as well. The hall itself is beautiful and the gardens are big enough that even when events are busy it doesn’t feel too cramped.
If you just visit on a quiet day, it’s more of a relaxed stroll around a historic house and grounds. Nice, but fairly low-key.
If you catch it during one of the big event days though, it’s a completely different experience - much more lively and definitely more fun for kids and families.
So the trick with this one is simple: check what’s on before you go.
Catch the right event and it turns into a really good day out.
