Lancashire Police Museum is the museum of the Lancashire Constabulary, in Lancaster, England. It is housed within Lancaster Castle in A Wing of the former HM Prison Lancaster, and opened in June 2022. It comprises 16 displays, shown in the former prison cells.

No - admission is free and you can just turn up. Booking is only required for group visits.

The museum is housed within Lancaster Castle, in the former prison wing, giving it a unique historic atmosphere.

You’ll find 16 different galleries (each in a former cell) covering aspects of policing in Lancashire: historical uniforms, training methods, forensic science, mounted units, the dog unit and modern policing.

Is the museum accessible for visitors with mobility issues?

The museum is in a historic building and access is via stairs; there is no lift access currently. Visitors with mobility issues or using wheelchairs or buggies are advised to contact the museum for advice.

Are children welcome and are there interactive elements?

Yes - children are welcome and there are interactive exhibits such as a mock custody suite and opportunities to learn about volunteering or cadet roles, making it suitable as a family outing.
