Lilidorei is a magical, fantasy-themed outdoor play village at The Alnwick Garden in Northumberland, centred on Elfwin Drin — the world’s largest play structure — and designed to spark children’s imaginations through a mix of physical adventure and storytelling.
At its heart, Lilidorei is a whimsical village inhabited by eight (sometimes nine) clans of mythical creatures — elves, goblins, trolls, sprites, pixies and more — each with their own themed houses filled with immersive audio and visual elements that encourage exploration and narrative play.
The incredible 26-metre-high wooden play structure (designed by Danish play architects Monstrum) includes multiple levels connected by ramps, bridges, ladders, climbing elements and six different slides, plus swings, spinning features and sound-making mushrooms on the ground level, all built to be engaging for a range of ages and abilities.
Around the village, Secret Keepers (staff in character) lead activities and storytelling that bring the lore of Lilidorei to life, while visitors can peek through windows, ring doorbells and listen to unique soundscapes that animate each clan’s dwelling.
Sessions are booked in advance and typically last several hours, with food and drink huts (offering sweet treats, hearty snacks and hot and cold drinks) dotted around the play area, plus a gift shop selling themed goodies.
The whole attraction is plastic-free, set among thousands of Nordic Christmas trees, and is designed to be accessible via smooth pathways for pushchairs and wheelchairs so that families can enjoy both the play structure and village atmosphere together.

Lilidorei (pronounced Lil-ee-door-ee), is a magical village ruled by the King, from high up in his tower Elfwin Drin (which happens to be the largest play structure in the world, don’t you know!). Lilidorei is home to our 8 clans – some friendly, some troublesome, who spend the entire year preparing for Christmas!
Lilidorei aims to create an environment that encourages both imaginary and physical play. Peep in the clan’s habitats and find out more about how they live, join the Elves for stories and games, and look out for other Lilidorians in the village! Who knows who you will meet wandering through the winding paths!
Lilidorei is aimed at ages 11 and under, but grown adults can enjoy the slides as much as the children!

All recognised guide, assistance, or service dogs – including assistance dogs in training are welcome into Lilidorei at The Alnwick Garden. They ask that they are recognisable, with a lead or harness that identifies them as working.
Combined Ticket allows visitors to experience the magical play village of Lilidorei alongside the tranquil Alnwick Garden on the same day. For Lilidorei, you will still need to book your play session and you can arrive any time within your chosen slot but must leave by the end time of your play session. When visiting The Garden, you can come and go as you please on the day your ticket is valid for!
