Just outside of Saffron Walden, Saffron Grange is fast becoming one of East Anglia’s most exciting names in sparkling wine. This family-run, award-winning vineyard set on a 40 acre site is dedicated solely to producing premium English sparkling wines of outstanding quality thanks to its unique, chalky soils and dry climate. The vineyard currently has five elegant sparkling wines in its collection; each crafted with precision and care from only the best quality fruit.
Saffron Grange runs regular but limited tours throughout the year which are informative but relaxed. You’ll enjoy wandering the vineyard whilst learning how the grapes are grown, all about the local land and its rich history - including the reason why the woolly mammoth features in the logo, and why their particular site in East Anglia is perfect for growing exceptional quality grapes to produce premium quality sparkling wines.
At the end of the tasting, there is an opportunity to enjoy the full range of our delicious sparkling wines perfectly paired with an option of cheese, charcuterie and seafood plates all sourced from local producers. Tours are popular so early booking is advised. They also offer self-guided ‘Try Flight’ sparkling wine tastings which allow visitors the opportunity to enjoy the sparkling wines along with tasting notes at their leisure.
The onsite Shop and Tasting Room is open throughout the year from Thursday to Saturday between 10am – 4pm and additionally on Sundays from 11am – 4pm in the summer months.

Vinyard tours not suitable for under 18's
Yes – we’re delighted to welcome well-behaved dogs on leads for our tours and in our tasting room and shop. We provide water bowls and dog treats to ensure your four-legged friends feel just as at home as you do.
Our vineyard tour and tasting experience lasts approximately 1.5 hours, depending on the number of questions along the way. After the tour, you’re very welcome to stay, relax, and enjoy additional drinks from our fully stocked bar, as well as any food you may have pre-ordered.
anyone interested in volunteering at the vineyard throughout the year — particularly during harvest. Grape picking is hands-on and rewarding work, and we thank our wonderful team with lunch and a glass (or two) of sparkling wine afterwards. Please email us to register your interest at harvest@saffrongrange.com
While babes in arms are welcome, we regret that our tours and tastings (lasting around 1–1.5 hours) are not suitable for children. However families are very welcome to visit the vineyard, and we recommend booking a table and choosing a self-guided wine tasting (our “Try Flight”) or joining us for one of our family-friendly events, such as Sundowners, Summer Sundays, or our annual family day, Mammoth Day Out.
There’s no formal dress code at Saffron Grange. However, we recommend flat, closed-toe shoes for vineyard tours, as the ground can be uneven. British weather can be unpredictable, so dressing in layers is advisable. On sunny days, please bring sun protection as shade is limited.
